September 18th, 2009

When I am trying to connect my DVD player (LG DVX9900) to my new HDTV (TH-42PX77U) with component cables (red, blue, green + red and white for audio) I can only get sound but no picture! Why? The instructions seem pretty straight forward, but I can’t understand why it’s not working. Would appreciate any help with this.

Hdtv Tuners Information

September 16th, 2009
HDTV tuners and HDHomeRun work as specially designed systems that receive and emit HDTV signals. HDTV stands for High Definition Television and it is the most advanced feature in the DTV area. Its qualities are broadcast of programs whose format is widescreen, pictures feature high resolution and you can enjoy surround sounds. Therefore, you can get the feeling of a theatre in your house.

Moreover HDTV tuners can be associated with set top boxes, receivers and decoders. The signal received by a HDTV tuner is associated with ATSC formats. The signals that are received are decoded before displaying, in typical HDTV signal. You can enjoy a quality of the picture in the case of HDTV between 720 p and 1080 I, having a 16 to 9 ratio. In general, HDTV tuners can receive any HDTV signals, which include satellite, cable, broadcast over the air, as well as VHS recordings that are digital.

HDTV tuners can be used in general integrated with special sets or receivers or they can simply be external boxes. HDTV tuners, which are external, are commonly placed between the TV and the antenna. Those TVs or receivers equipped with tuners will not need outer HDTV tuners in order to receive channels associated to standard cable. In the case of analog and digital televisions that do not include tuners, any external version of an HDTV can be ideal as far as the advantages of the HDTV signals are concerned.

If you are concerned about tuners’ prices, we can let you know that they are available between 100 and 400 USD. Anyway, the price depends on the brand. For example, Panasonic tuners’ prices are different from Samsung. You can find HDTV tuners at online shops or you can purchase them from local dealers. If you ask somebody who has enough experience in the area, experts can recommend you for sure the leading shops on the internet.

As they are designed to satisfy different necessities, tuners can provide exclusive characteristics. Such characteristics can be program guides for any channel, setup guide, guides for interactive programs and so on. Those tuners that are equipped with specific hard drives can record TV programs that are standard digital and HDTV. To continue with, HDHomeRun is a tuner box for digital television sets. It is networked and dual and its producer is Silicon Dust. HDHomeRun is characterized by two inputs. Those inputs are in general used for an over the air antenna connection and in the case of a digital cable that is QAM un-encrypted. HDHomeRun is equipped with a connection Ethernet type, a receiver IR, a connector for power, but it has no output for TV. It can be said that it may be thoroughly controlled via the Ethernet network, more precisely, via DHCP.

It can be used for channel tuning and a video stream that is previously encoded can be broadcast by the computer that is receiving via Ethernet. Thus, you can watch ATSC or QAM, un-encrypted via any local network. HDHomeRun uses cable television QAM type or ATSC, free to air. It does not have any branding or special markings. This tuner box can be accessed using a large range of PVR/DVR software.

How do I fix the clear lines scrolling through my hdtv?

September 9th, 2009

I have noticed clear lines scrolling up my hdtv. I can see them because they are slightly lighter than the rest of the picture. They scroll very slowly from the bottom to the top. It is the most noticeable when I am watching something in hd. The only hd content that I get is through my cable but I notice it when using any other components (i.e. Wii, DVD player). All the components are hooked up to my TV through a stereo receiver using component cables.

How do I get my built-in freeview to work on my samsung hdtv?

September 9th, 2009

I have a Samsung LE40A656, and I cannot, for the life of me, work out how to get the DTV to work. It may just be the case that the wiring is wrong. When I scan for channels it finds 70 channels but 0 services and then says something along the lines of check your ariel cable (which I have). So if anyone who owns a Samsung HDTV with Freeview built-in, would be willing to give advice, I would be more than grateful.

I turned the tv off for a couple of minutes and turned it back on and it was back to normal. The next day the picture went out again and I tried turning it off and the on, but this time it didn’t work. The tv has got sound but no picture. I want to see if there is a simple solution before I send it to get repaired.
